Week 28 of The Blooms

Despite a busy week caught up in not so flowery things, there was time to make another posy with Larkspur, Ammi and Dusty Miller, all from the cutting patch.FullSizeRender_2Like several of the annuals I have grown from seed, Larkspur is another one that I’ve found incredibly easy to grow and the more I pick, the more it just keeps coming. I’ve enjoyed watching the different colours of purple, pink and white bloom from their unusual shaped buds, and for this arrangement I chose stems of Larkspur that included them all.FullSizeRender_1I’ve noticed with Larkspur that not only does it have a great vase life of up to two weeks, but it lasts surprisingly well out of water.  I’ve had bunches hanging on doors around the house and garden all summer.FullSizeRender-3FullSizeRender-4I’ve also read that it’s a great flower to dry for confetti, so I thought I would give it a go and currently have petals drying in a warm place on paper towel.FullSizeRenderIt’s fun using flowers in different ways and thanks to Larkspur I’ve had chance to do this. 🙂
